SCI hosts Toronto DC tour for retail executives from Brazil, in partnership with Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University. Delegation of Brazilian retail executives welcomed by SCI at its showcase omni-channel retail distribution centre in Mississauga
Toronto (Ontario), May 1, 2018 – SCI, a leading Canadian supply chain solutions provider, recently partnered with Ted Rogers School of Management (TRSM), Ryerson University to lead a comprehensive tour of its omni-channel retail distribution centre for a delegation of retail executives from Brazil.
The delegation included more than 20 representatives from fashion, mass merchandise, home hardware, sporting goods, confectionary, beauty and cosmetics, bed, bath, and home products segments.
During the visit, SCI provided Brazilian retail companies’ presidents, managing directors, and business owners the opportunity to learn about best-in-class business and supply chain strategies in Canada, so they can apply these practices in their home country. SCI provided impactful insights to the TRSM program by sharing its competency in omni-channel retail distribution.
The recent tour at one of SCI’s showcase facilities in its Mississauga campus was led by Dwayne Johnson, SCI’s omni-channel retail business 
development director. The multi-client distribution centre is an example of an end-to-end omni-channel distribution solution, and the Brazilian visitors were shown multiple processes, including:
- Inventory receiving and put-away;
- Retail and E-Commerce order fulfillment;
- Value-added services such as kitting, re-packaging, tagging, price sticking, re-labeling and bar-coding;
- Reverse logistics including product inspection, destruction and handling consumer returns from stores to manufacturers.
During SCI’s facility tour, the group also discussed Canadian retail strategies, retail decision making, impacts of globalization, and taxes, as well as the in-depth subject of supply chain, distribution, and the challenges of delivering goods to store and into the hands of consumers.
