Role:The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading a functional group to achieve daily Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), operational objectives and in creating a collaborative team environment. The key accountabilities for this position include leadership, communication, developing people, planning and decision making to continuously improve standard operating procedures and overseeing the building.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Maximize productivity by effectively allocating available resources to successfully process the daily work volume
  • Measure and report the effectiveness of warehousing and dock activities and employees performance
  • Ensure shipment and inventory transaction accuracy
  • Effectively communicate all pertinent information regarding process changes, goals & objectives and operational results to employees through daily shift meetings
  • Comprehend and administer all relevant policies and procedures in a fair & consistent manner
  • Coach employees on best practices and provide corrective actions
  • Hands-on direction of all activities to ensure customer and corporate requirements are met
  • Ensure 100% adherence to SCI’s Quality Principals and Account specific standard operating procedures
  • Become proficient in the operation and related systems
  • Ensure Health and Safety practices are adhered to (e.g. coach team members on safe work practices, enforce company policies and procedures, and serve as a positive role model with respect to safe work practices)
  • Provide daily updates on receiving, shipping, issues and projects as well as road operations
  • Participation in decision-making processes involving dock, warehouse, and transportation issues
  • Flexible working hours and scheduling is a requirement. Availability for evenings, weekends, and travelling as necessary

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience or similar, preferably in a distribution environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Previous experience using SAP and warehouse management systems; Logfire and TruckMate experience preferred
  • Proficient using phone and web-based applications
  • Strong service quality experience with specific measures and accomplishments
  • Proven experience in developing positive employee relations with an emphasis on creating a collaborate team environment
  • Ability to analyze, plan and manage resources effectively
  • Good proficiency using Microsoft office applications
  • Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to operate a 5 ton single axle vehicle
  • Post-secondary education and/or a combination of relevant experience and education
