Role: The Operations Supervisor/Dispatcher is responsible for leading a functional group to achieve daily Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), operational objectives and in creating a collaborative team environment. The key accountabilities for this position include leadership, communication, developing people, planning and decision making to continuously improve standard operating procedures and overseeing the building.

Key Responsibilities include:

· Maximize productivity by effectively allocating available resources to successfully process the daily work volume

· Measure and report the effectiveness of warehousing and dock activities and employees performance

· Ensure shipment and inventory transaction accuracy

· Effectively communicate all pertinent information regarding process changes, goals & objectives and operational results to employees through daily shift meetings

· Comprehend and administer all relevant policies and procedures in a fair & consistent manner

· Coach employees on best practices and provide corrective actions

· Hands-on direction of all activities to ensure customer and corporate requirements are met

· Ensure 100% adherence to SCI’s Quality Principals and Account specific standard operating procedures

· Become proficient in the operation and related systems

· Ensure Health and Safety practices are adhered to (e.g. coach team members on safe work practices, enforce company policies and procedures, and serve as a positive role model with respect to safe work practices)

· Provide daily updates on receiving, shipping, issues and projects as well as road operations

· Participation in decision-making processes involving dock, warehouse, and transportation issues

· Flexible working hours and scheduling is a requirement. Availability for evenings, weekends, and travelling as necessary

· Identify areas of improvement and establish innovative or adjust existing work procedures and practices

· Confer and coordinate activities with other department

· Truck routing by geography, scope of work, volumes, etc.

· Print batch orders for primary customers

· Create manifests for trips, create orders (BOL) in TruckMate, print all paperwork BOLs, checklists and job orders as required.

· Check orders for status issues completion, docked, not assigned and Arrcon/Depcon

· Use end of day reports from SCI Service group and Clients to confirm next day orders

· Update/Audit Driver/Helper Expenses in Chrome River and Element Fuel

· Check end of day paperwork for completeness, sort, synergize, store a copy of the trip on S-Drive and file

· Sort and file hard copy fuel logs, time sheets

· Manage the day off rotation of the Driver/Helper teams

· Generate paperwork for the PM warehouse team to stage runs

· Work with Customer Service to cover same day requests, and confirm availability to cover all requests

· Other duties as required

Qualifications include:

· Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience or similar, preferably in a distribution environment

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

· Demonstrated leadership capabilities

· Previous experience using SAP and warehouse management systems

· Strong MS Office and experience using TruckMate an asset

· Experience in Transportation Management would be an asset

· Proficient using phone and web-based applications

· Strong service quality experience with specific measures and accomplishments

· Proven experience in developing positive employee relations with an emphasis on creating a collaborate team environment

· Ability to analyze, plan and manage resources effectively

· Good proficiency using Microsoft office applications

· Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations

· Strong organizational and time management skills

· Ability to operate a 5 ton single axle vehicle

· Post-secondary education and/or a combination of relevant experience and education
