Role: TeamLead, Transportation Management (TM) is to achieve daily Service Level Agreement’s and operational objectives. Work with internal operations, external carriers to support Bell Supply Chain and deliver savings to Progistix and the client.

Key Responsibilities Operations:

  • Maximize productivity by effectively allocating available resources to successfully process the daily work volume
  • Effectively communicate all pertinent information regarding process changes, goals and objectives and operational results and escalate issues when necessary
  • Comprehend and administer all relevant policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner
  • Hands on direction of all activities to ensure customer and corporate requirements are met
  • Adhere to Progistix’s Quality Principles and Account specific Standard Operating Procedures
  • Use of SAP, ESS and other related systems is an asset
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety practices and ensure employees are following all related policies and procedures
  • Manage labour requirements to support customer ‘s needs
  • Provide daily updates on departmental issues and projects

Transportation Management

  • Meet or exceed internal & external reporting requirements, work with operations and carriers to resolve issues
  • Balance volume between routes to minimize left off ensuring maximum deliver-ability
  • Ensure timely and accurate freight tendered as per Bell guidelines – ensure shipment details, carrier routing options and appointment times are updated and communicated
  • Manage TM system for pickup requests and route them to the correct carrier
  • Manage and update inbound shipment information
  • Lead daily carrier meetings to discuss shipping and delivery issues
  • Ensure utilization of most cost effective carriers to support Bell business needs
  • Effective cross training of TM associates to maximize team effectiveness
  • Provide backup for TM Coordinator function

Qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities
  • Minimum of 3 years leadership experience in a fast paced, transportation / logistics environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including written communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of WMS systems in an RF environment
  • Minimum of 1 year of Truck Mate system experience
  • Knowledge of shipping / receiving best practices
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with third party logistics services and processes
  • Successful management experience and ability to work with both internal & external parties
  • Proficiency using Microsoft office applications
  • Post secondary education and/or a combination of relevant experience and education
